m (Speculation. I checked SFA2's audio files for Akuma and the noise is much longer and deeper. Both could use a similar or same audio library or both could be inspired by sounds used in anime for strong hits or a mix, but it would be hard to say for certain)

A '''ping''' is the sound effect used for very powerful [[attack]]s, and is most often associated with the [[Home-Run Bat]]. In ''[[Brawl]]{{'}}s'' trophy description for the Home-Run Bat, the sound is described as "KREEEEENG!", while the [[Smash Bros. DOJO!!]] variously described it as [http://www.smashbros.com/wii/en_us/gamemode/various/various08.html "PWANG!"], [http://www.smashbros.com/wii/en_us/characters/hidden03.html "PING!"], or [http://www.smashbros.com/wii/en_us/characters/hidden10.html "Pwaaaang!"]. It can be described as a sharp ascending high-pitched sound overlaid with a trailing impact sound. The sound is impossible to miss, and hearing it usually means that a player just got hit by a very powerful attack.
