This article is about taunts in Super Smash Bros. Melee. For general information, see Taunt.

The following is a list of all taunts in Super Smash Bros. Melee. To perform a taunt in Melee, press up on the D-Pad of the GameCube Controller.

Bowser[edit]

  • Throws his head back, spinning it in a circle, and roars.

Captain Falcon[edit]

  • Faces the camera, salutes and exclaims "Show me your moves!" This taunt is notable in Melee for being one of only two that has a different animation depending on whether the character is facing right or left; unlike in Brawl and Smash 4, both of Falcon's taunt animations will end at exactly the same time (both having 60 frames).

Donkey Kong[edit]

  • Faces the camera and shrugs his shoulders, making a confused noise.

Dr. Mario[edit]

  • Throws a pill up in the air along his arm, before catching it.

Falco[edit]

  • Spins on one foot, then poses with one of his arms/wings before him. In the Japanese version of Melee, he states 俺の獲物に手を出すな! (Get your hands off of my prey!) or 逃がすかよ! (You're not getting away with this!); in other versions, he merely chuckles.

Fox[edit]

  • Leans back and states "Come on!" (かかってこい!, Come at me!) whilst waving his hand. In the Japanese version of Melee, he may also say "Come on!" in English.

Ganondorf[edit]

  • Hovers in mid-air and spins before laughing menacingly.

Ice Climbers[edit]

  • Swing their hammers forward saying "Yo!" as their clothes sway to the wind.

Jigglypuff[edit]

  • Spins around on one foot, then looks at the camera inflated, winking and saying "Jigglypuff!" (プリプリーン!)

Kirby[edit]

  • Waves and says "Hi!". The taunt's animation differs slightly, depending on what direction Kirby is facing. Usage of this taunt will get rid of whatever ability he has copied.

Link[edit]

  • Sheathes his sword, places shield on his back, lets out a sigh, then brushes back his hair.

Luigi[edit]

  • Crosses his arms behind his back and performs a small, shy kick. The kick can damage an opponent if it connects, acting as a meteor smash. However, its pitiful range and slow startup severely limits its effectiveness. It is similar to his pose when he loses a minigame in Mario Party 2. It could also reference the original Mario Bros. In order to knock a monster off the screen, you have to walk into them.

Mario[edit]

  • Grows to a super-size, as if taking a Super Mushroom power-up, before shrinking again. This also increases his hurtbox. The size increase stacks with special matches and actual super mushrooms. During the taunt, Mario mimics the standing pose seen in the original Super Mario Bros.

Marth[edit]

  • Swings his sword around and says in Japanese: みんな、見ていてくれ! ("Everyone, watch over me!").

Mewtwo[edit]

  • Crosses its arms and spins in mid-air, laughing sinisterly.

Mr. Game & Watch[edit]

  • Rings his bell in front of him.

Ness[edit]

  • Faces the camera, nods and says "OK!"

Peach[edit]

  • Performs a spin, then poses and winks, saying "S-weet!"

Pichu[edit]

  • Facing right: Lies on the ground and rolls around, chanting "Pichu!" Has IASA frames before Pichu gets up.
  • Facing left: Jumps up and down, chanting "Pichu!" Has IASA frames after the third jump.

Pikachu[edit]

  • Waves at the camera, yelling "Pika, Pika!" Starting in this game, it tilts its head to one side and then to another, waving one arm and then the other. In this game, the taunt has IASA frames, as it can be interrupted by any attack when Pikachu starts the second wave.

Roy[edit]

  • Leans back and holds his sword in an attack position, shouting "Hee-ya!" as he does so.

Samus[edit]

  • Holds her arm cannon upright.

Sheik[edit]

  • Performs a threatening pose with her right hand before her face and grunts.

Yoshi[edit]

  • An update of his previous taunt, Yoshi simply faces the camera and jumps up and down whilst chanting.

Young Link[edit]

  • Takes out a bottle of Lon Lon Milk, drinks it, and then wipes his mouth while sighing. This is the longest taunt in Melee.

Zelda[edit]

  • Holds her hands together, as if in prayer.

Male Wire Frame[edit]

  • Faces the camera and salutes like Captain Falcon.
  • Looks right and points, akin to Captain Falcon.

Female Wire Frame[edit]

  • Holds her hands together, identical to Zelda's.

Giga Bowser[edit]

  • A more bestial version of Bowser's. Rears his head back and roars, expelling steam.
