This is the first Ultimate tournament for the Umebura tournament series, the first Ultimate major, and the largest Ultimate tournament at that time. The event held the record for the largest one-day tournament in Smash history, before being surpassed by Umebura SP 6 ten months later. Due to the amount of entrants and time constraints, this became a single elimination tournament.
