Overview
If Terry is over 100% damage, or has less than 1/3rd of his health in Stamina mode, and the player inputs either ↓ ↘ → ↓ ↘ → + attack/special or ↓ → ↓ → + attack/special, Terry will rush forward with a shout of "Are you okay?". If the move connects with an opponent, Terry will fire a large explosion directly in front of him, shouting "Buster Wolf!" as he does so.
If Terry is over 100% damage, or has less than 30% of his health in Stamina mode, and the player inputs either ↓ ↘ → ↓ ↘ → + Attack/Special or ↓ → ↓ → + Attack/Special, Terry will rush forward with a shout of "Are you okay?". If the move connects with an opponent, Terry will fire a large explosion directly in front of him, shouting "Buster Wolf!" as he does so. A successful use will cause the screen to have a blue overlay. Buster Wolf also has 8% damage-based armor from Frames 1-15, allowing Terry to shrug off weak attacks; because of this and the lunge going so far, it is a very niche method of getting out of ledgetrap situations.

Terry will also not follow through if the initial punch is shielded. This is because while the move is treated as a command grab, it cannot grab opponents that are shielding; these are sometimes referred to as "hitgrabs". It is one of the few command grabs with this trait (alongside Fishing Rod and Grappling Hook). This happens because it has a normal hitbox before the grab starts, likely as a balancing factor. Due to it acting like a grab upon connecting with an opponent, however, it can notably affect Incineroar, Joker, and Banjo & Kazooie while they are performing Revenge, Rebel's Guard and Wonderwing respectively. Buster Wolf's "hitgrab" mechanic is also somewhat flawed: if the opponent is lying on the ground when hit by the lunge, they'll be knocked away weakly for minimal damage and Terry will not follow through with the explosive finish. This also occurs if the opponent is too high above Terry. This is due to the command grab hitbox actually being smaller than the attacking hitbox, which knocks them out of range. This is very unsafe on hit if it occurs, leaving Terry open to brutal punishment in a conventional setting.

Like Power Geyser, this move cannot be performed in the air.

Cancelling
Like his normal specials such as Power Wave, Terry can cancel the endlag of his normals into Super Special Moves as well. Like all Super Special Moves, it can be Renda cancelled. Buster Wolf does happen to have confirms, namely out of Terry pre-tumble. This can serve as a very early kill confirm should it connect at the edge, which can be set up through Terry. Down tilt can be used alongside Terry to also confirm the attack. Outside of this, however, it is generally unreliable.

If the opponent is lying on the ground when hit by the first lunge, they'll be knocked away weakly for minimal damage and Terry will not follow through with the explosive finish. Terry will also not follow through if the initial punch is shielded.
The first hit of Buster Wolf itself can be cancelled into Terry's Final Smash, Triple Wolf.

This move cannot be performed in the air.
Buster Wolf freeze glitch
The Buster Wolf freeze glitch was a glitch in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate that was discovered in the version 6.0.0 update. This glitch caused both Terry and the partner Ice Climber to become frozen in place during Buster Wolf. It was patched out soon after in version 6.1.0.

This glitch could be performed by connecting Terry's Buster Wolf with the partner climber’s part of Squall Hammer. This glitch could not be performed on the leader climber’s part. Naturally, this glitch was easier to perform while the Ice Climbers were desynching, which is most commonly performed through Squall Hammer. Should the conditions occur correctly, both Terry and the Ice Climber will be unable to move. Due to both parties becoming intangible during the attack, it was impossible to end the match unless a player quits or the main Ice Climber player SDed.

Buster Wolf (バスターウルフ, Buster Wolf) is one of Terry's Super Special Moves.

Overview[edit]

Cancelling[edit]

Like his normal specials such as Power Wave, Terry can cancel the endlag of his normals into Super Special Moves as well. Like all Super Special Moves, it can be Renda cancelled. Buster Wolf does happen to have confirms, namely out of forward tilt pre-tumble. This can serve as a very early kill confirm should it connect at the edge, which can be set up through down tilt. Down tilt can be used alongside neutral attack to also confirm the attack. Outside of this, however, it is generally unreliable.

The first hit of Buster Wolf itself can be cancelled into Terry's Final Smash, Triple Wolf.

Buster Wolf freeze glitch[edit]

Origin[edit]

Terry performing a Buster Wolf in Garou: Mark of the Wolves.

Buster Wolf is a move introduced in Garou: Mark of the Wolves, and has since become one of Terry's most iconic signature moves, seen in practically every game he's included in. The command used to perform the move in Ultimate mirrors the command for it in most games. The iconic "Are you OK?" line is sort of an inside joke, originating from a child asking Yasuyuki Oda if he was ok after being blasted with water on a theme park ride in Disneyland.[1] It was originally going to be called God Twin Geyser during Garou: Mark of the Wolves's development.
