The grab button refers to the controller button used for grabs:
- The L button and R button on the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con and Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. R is also used for grabs on the Nintendo 64 controller, while L is used for grabs on the 3DS.
- The Z button on a Nintendo GameCube controller, alongside the ZL and ZR buttons on the Wii Classic Controller, Wii U GamePad and Wii U Pro Controller.
- The minus button on a Wii Remote used alone with Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
- The Nunchuk has no button dedicated to grabs, but players can grab by pressing left or right on the Wii Remote’s D-pad, or pressing the A and B buttons simultaneously
- The SL button on a horizontal Joy-Con used alone with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
