==Origin==
As a prominent aspect of human life and culture, depictions of personifications of Death are common in numerous media. The image of a hooded skeletal figure wielding a scythe is often known as the Grim Reaper. Fittingly, Death appears as a regular character in the ''Castlevania'' series, often filling the role of Dracula's most trusted servant. Death is the only boss aside from Dracula to return in ''Castlevania II: Simon's Quest'' where he serves as the boss of Brahm's Mansion, and drops the Gold Knife, the strongest knife in the game. In ''Castlevania: Symphony of the Night'', Death appears before [[Alucard]] and tries to persuade him to cease his crusade against his father. When Alucard refuses, Death strips Alucard of all of his gear, requiring him to obtain new weapons, armor, and abilities throughout the game.
