This events bracket was rather interesting because {{Sm|Mango}} who was carpooling with {{Sm|Hax}} and {{Sm|S2J}} and they arrived at the tournament 45 minutes late resulting in a DQ from the first round of winners bracket for all three of them. Resulting in {{Sm|Mango}} losing to {{Sm|A Rookie}}, {{Sm|Hax}} losing to a relatively obscure smasher named {{Sm|Reason}} and {{Sm|S2J}} losing to {{Sm|Tafokints}}. This resulted in the latest edition of "tryhard {{Sm|Mango}}" since [[EVO 2013]] running over: {{Sm|Jace}}, {{Sm|Westballz}}, {{Sm|Hax}}, {{Sm|Leffen}}, {{Sm|Shroomed}}, {{Sm|Lucky}}, {{Sm|Hungrybox}}, {{Sm|Axe}} and {{Sm|Fly Amanita}} for two sets. Of all of those sets {{Sm|Mango}} only lost a game to {{Sm|Hax}}, {{Sm|Lucky}} and {{Sm|Axe}}. Press Start was a national tournament held at UC Irvine, featuring popular PC games such as League of Legends and Dota 2 as well as singles and doubles for Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Numerous upsets occurred during the event's Melee pools, such as Jace defeating SFAT and HugS defeating Leffen.

Mango, Hax and S2J, who were carpooling, arrived 45 minutes late for the tournament bracket and were disqualified from their first round matches against A Rookie, Reason and Tafokints respectively. Nonetheless, Mango proceeded to win the tournament via the losers' bracket, only losing games to Hax, Lucky and Axe.
