m (cleaned up controversy as best as I can. Removed a lot of statements that don't have much to do with the controversy (and honestly didn't have sources to back up either), as well as how she went inactive after the racism Tweet (which is inaccurate, she became inactive around 2020))

After her victory over {{Sm|Ally}}, Bocchi took to [[Twitter]] where she claimed that she would be retiring from smash as "Bocchi" and would either be competing under a new name or retiring all together because of the new attention she had gained after fellow smashers such as {{Sm|ZeRo}} made videos on her and she received harassment from people.<ref>{{cite web|url= https://twitter.com/lilyvgc/status/1146246491566161920?s=21|title=Bocchi’s announcement}}</ref>
2 days following this, Ally made tweets claiming that his previous denials about his relationship with {{Sm|CaptainZack}} were false and that he had fact been in a relationship with Zack, a minor.<ref>{{cite web|url= https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/948534622877286403/948534639201505310/IMG_1514.png|title=Ally’s statement}}</ref>
This led people to compare the two incidents claiming that it was hypocritical for other smashers to harass Bocchi for leaving the community, but also encourage Ally to not leave despite him admitting his relationship to CaptainZack.<ref>{{cite web|url= https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/948534622877286403/948535079582461962/IMG_1515.png|title=Comparison by Onua}}</ref>

Bocchi quickly took to Twitter following this, claiming that she was not a racist and was simply an edgy teenager almost a year ago. Controversy

Harassment from the community

Following her victory over Ally, Bocchi stated she was considering either retiring or changing her tag due to unwanted attention from other players such as ZeRo, which had led to harassment from other players.[1] These players were criticized for their actions, especially following Ally's admission to having a relationship with CaptainZack.

Racism allegations

A few weeks after the Ally win, Ryuga posted Tweets that showed screenshots of Bocchi and Stroder using the N-word multiple times in a Discord server. Bocchi quickly took to Twitter following this, claiming that she was not a racist and was simply an edgy teenager almost a year ago.
