After her victory over {{Sm|Ally}}, Bocchi took to twitter where she claimed that she would be retiring from smash as “Bocchi” and would either be competing under a new name or retiring all together because of the new attention she had gained after fellow smashers such as {{Sm|ZeRo}} made videos on her and she received harassment from people.<ref>{{cite web|url= https://twitter.com/lilyvgc/status/1146246491566161920?s=21|Title=Bocchi’s announcement}}</ref>

2 days following this, {{Sm|Ally}} made tweets claiming that his previous denials about his relationship with {{Sm|CaptainZack}} were false and that he had fact been in a relationship with Zack, a minor.<ref>{{cite web|url= https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/948534622877286403/948534639201505310/IMG_1514.png|Title=Ally’s statement}}</ref>

16 days following this, smasher {{Sm|Ryuga}} made tweets showing screenshots of Bocchi and {{Sm|Stroder}} using the n-word multiple times in a [[Discord]] server. Bocchi quickly took to twitter following this, claiming that she was not a racist and was simply an edgy teenager almost a year ago.
