:Hmm...well first off, please remember to sign your comments. Second, considering the one at SSC 2016 is still on the page despite having 134 entrants, I'd say keep it listed as a side event, but maybe have a note somewhere on the article explaining the circumstances behind the PM tournament. If there's ever a problem, we can easily split it into its own article later. :For one thing, please remember to sign your comments (you can see how at the top of edit boxes on talk pages). Second, do you have any further proof that they're different people? I mainly ask this because the original person who created the article does seem to have a respectable reputation for Smash 64 articles, so I'm trying to see whether or not the inclusion of that result was an honest mistake, and because it's a little easy to claim something like that without something to back it up. Hey! I'm a translator (primarily focused on english/portuguese) who loves smash and understands the game pretty well, insofar as I play all of them competitively and am real life friends with a bunch of top players from 64, melee and smash4. I haven't translated any pages yet, but I was thinking of doing some smash stuff first, however, I can't figure out how to translate pages from the ssbwiki. Is there even a way to do this, or can I not translate these pages? | Hey! Hello. I do not have an account here at the moment. Might make one at a later time. Im doing some research on the history of the smash community, specifically its foundes and what they are doing now for a project of mine. I saw that you contributed the picture used for Gideon (founder of Smashboards and this very wiki) on this wiki's article on him. And you stated that it came from his linkedin profile. I was wondering if you knew if he still has or uses that profile. I've searched everywhere. I haven't found much. Except that he seems to be a doctor(?). Regarding this edit : Isn't there a version of Simon Belmont that appears in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate (an M-rated game)? https://castlevania.fandom.com/wiki/Simon_Belmont_(Lords_of_Shadow)
Or does he not count since the Lords of Shadow series is set in a different timeline than the main series? SuperSmashTurtles (talk) 14:17, February 17, 2020 (EST)

== Advice on handling disputes ==
Here's something I've been wanting to ask someone to help with, now be warned this might be a bit long: Dispute handling is something I always felt I needed to improve on. Now seeing how this is something SmashWiki looks for in admins I felt the best would be to ask one how to handle them, and with me being an admin on WikiBound this is something I need to be good at. Now for me the best way for me to learn is by example. To be fair I feel I haven't been in any big disbutes yet so I'll use the biggest one I've been in for an example: Template talk:Symbol.
*First I just decided to bluntly state that it was decided we're not changing the symbol, thinking they'll figure out that this discussion is long over. That didn't work.
*Later I tried a different approach and decided to make it seem like I myself am open to changing it and even gave my personal opinions on each symbol. I figured they'll be more likely to not immediately shoot me down if I at least make it seem like I'm open to having it change, and also believe each symbol has some validity to be used. And that didn't work either.
So in the end I figured the best way for me to learn is if you tell me if there were any parts I did well, and the parts I could've done better. Thanks for your time. <span style="font-family:Algerian"><font color="blue">OmegαToαd</font> <font color="aqua">the Toαd Wαrrior</font> <font color="springgreen">(BUP)</font></span> 07:20, April 7, 2020 (EDT)
:You definitely have the foundation in place. The symbol debate is an odd case so using that example wouldn't entirely benefit either of us, but in most cases yes, if a discussion has already been turned down, you can shoot it down and explain why it's not happening. However, if a sufficient amount of time had passed, opinions can change wildly. For example, we used to have a category for female smashers due to how few there were in the scene, and that was constantly debated back and forth on whether or not we were keeping it. I think it was ultimately decided to do away with it, though I wasn't here for that discussion. As for your latter approach, that generally is the next best thing to do in a debate, and definitely what you wanna start with in most cases. As an admin, unless you're the one who started the debate, it's usually best to go in as a neutral party in order to attempt to find a compromise everyone can agree on. Lastly, while admins and bureaucrats aren't to be considered kings on SmashWiki, we still have the ability to shut something down should we feel it necessary for any reason.
:tl;dr, you have a good foundation for dispute handling and the best qualities I recommend focusing on are patience, neutrality, and, as someone who's been guilty of this myself in the past, keeping your emotions in check, no matter how heated the dispute becomes. <span style="color:Green; text-shadow: 0px 0px 3px green">Disaster</span> <span style="color:Blue;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px blue">Flare</span> <span style="color:SkyBlue;text-shadow:0px 0px 3px skyblue">(talk)</span> 10:39, April 7, 2020 (EDT)
::Alright, thanks for the advice. I am glad to see I am on the right track, and keeping a neutral tone is actually something I try to do at the start so I can see what most people think first, and then I try to find the best solution out of them (though the symbol debate was a different case due to the past discussions). For patience that definitely shouldn't be a problem for me since I'm often known for being a patient individual in real life, I don't let my emotions take over because that will do more harm than good. And actually adminship here is something I have considered before, I just need to make sure I'm ready to take the position before requesting, EDIT: and if I eventually do I will give this a mention. About the Scrub Rush page
To be honest, I don't know exactly what to call the article, because there are multiple different names for it. and for each different variation there is people who do and do not know what speak of, such as yourself. The only reason I decided on "Scrub Rush" was because SSBM Tutorials called it that, so I settled on that. To see exactly what I am talking about, please visit the link below

I hope this can clear any confusion. Thank you!

Two things
PM did not happen at BAM7, but it was at a tournament leading up to it called Project Melbourne. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SloEYXHEle0
In any case, I was wondering how we should handle the Project M side event at Super Smash Con 2017. I see two ways of handling it:
1.We do the same thing as SSC 2016 and keep it on the page as a "side event".
2.We give it its own page.
I list the second one because of the fact that people are not allowed to talk about it ( https://www.reddit.com/r/SSBPM/comments/6sgopq/goode_with_the_goods_at_super_smash_con_for_pm/ ), but I leave the first option open because of what we did for the first 2 SSCs. In any case, the event in of itself is probably significant enough to warrant its own page if needed, given that Gallo, Switch, HyperFlame, BP, and more will be attending and it will most likely break 100 entrants. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Diamond444 (talk • contribs) 22:31, 11 August 2017 (EST)
- Hmm...well first off, please remember to sign your comments. Second, considering the one at SSC 2016 is still on the page despite having 134 entrants, I'd say keep it listed as a side event, but maybe have a note somewhere on the article explaining the circumstances behind the PM tournament. If there's ever a problem, we can easily split it into its own article later. Disaster Flare (talk) 18:40, 11 August 2017 (EDT)
- My apologies. It has been a while since I last used a userspace. Anyways, thank you. Diamond444 (talk) 18:47, 11 August 2017 (EDT)

Idle Chatter
Hello, how are you doing? Just wanted to see if there's anything I can do today for the wiki, so that's why I asked. Skuchi037 (talk) 15:51, 4 September 2017 (EDT)
- I'm doing fine, thank you. :P If there's anything you'd like to do, There's a "Things to do" area of the recent changes page that you can go through and see if there's anything you can help with. If not, you can also go through articles on the recent changes and see if anything needs improving. Disaster Flare (talk) 15:57, 4 September 2017 (EDT)
Oh, I got one question. I don't know if this is on the blocking policy or not, but how do you, if at all, discuss a ban with the administrator who blocked you? I think this would be useful if you think your ban was unfair or wrong. Skuchi037 (talk) 16:45, 4 September 2017 (EDT)
- In the case of MarioWiki, I can't exactly help you with that, since their policies are very different from ours. IIRC, they have a Discord server you could join if you have a Discord account, but beyond that, I can't help you. In the case of SmashWiki, if they leave your talk page privileges unlocked, you can message on there, or you can get on SmashWiki's Discord server or IRC. However, Discord would be your best bet, as the IRC has since been deemed obsolete. Disaster Flare (talk) 16:49, 4 September 2017 (EDT)
All right, thanks for the help. Skuchi037 (talk) 16:54, 4 September 2017 (EDT)
about Smasher:supa
supa (lowercase) didn't attend Little Big House 2 nor plays smash for Wii U. There is another Supa in michigan but they are two completely different people. That is why I removed the tournament results. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dragnalus (talk • contribs) 23:26, 4 September 2017 (EST)
- For one thing, please remember to sign your comments (you can see how at the top of edit boxes on talk pages). Disaster Flare (talk) 19:30, 4 September 2017 (EDT)
- To clarify, I am willing to believe you, but if you have any extra evidence, that'd be of great help in case anyone were to try to make later claims in the future. Disaster Flare (talk) 19:34, 4 September 2017 (EDT)
supa has a twitter account and facial picture that is completely different from Supa who attends Wii U. I believe their ethnicity are different as well. Twitter: https://twitter.com/supassb Facial: [1] Dragnalus (talk) 19:38, 4 September 2017 (EDT)Dragnalus
- Hmm..alright, go ahead and remove it, then. However, just so there's no trouble in the future, it might be a good idea to mention why you're removing it in the edit summary, so that way nobody in the future thinks you're removing it for malicious reasons or something. WHAT?
You delete my topic? Why? HOW I CAN PUT IT? Because of the rule? Music Video 123 (talk) 06:01, 23 September 2017 (EDT)
- I'm not the person you're contacting on this page, but Flare deleted it for the following reason: "Information unrelated to the wiki, and merely vaguely related to Smash as a whole." If that doesn't answer your question, then I'm not sure what to tell you. As a side note, your signature is in violation of our regulations, so it'd be wise for you to fix it. Aidan, the Rurouni 12:55, 23 September 2017 (EDT)
- To further clarify, SmashWiki is not a social networking site, so forums aren't really used unless it's relating to SmashWiki and the content presented within it. - I'll reiterate: it's unrelated to the wiki (we don't exactly cover fanmade Smash-related things, only the real stuff), and merely vaguely related to Smash as a whole (a quick look through that link you so graciously provided doesn't exactly show that it has anything to with Smash barring the name).

- What about this? Music Video 123 (talk) 05:46, 26 October 2017 (EDT)
- "While the existence of things such as fan fiction, machinima, and fan games should not be ignored, and the concepts alone may deserve pages, articles on specific creations do not have a place here."
- Meaning I not put into forums? and what "a quick look through that link you so graciously provided doesn't exactly show that it has anything to with Smash barring the name"? But in my DeviantART.
- Listen let me break down exactly what you just said slowly. "While the existence of things such as fan fiction, machinima, and fan games should not be ignored" meaning yes there is such a community for people to create things such as parodies for example. "And the concepts alone may deserve pages" such as in the case of Project M becoming a very recognized stand alone game to the point where Nintendo had to step in. "Articles on specific creations do not have a place here" in the case of your DeviantART being extremely tailored to your user interest and not enough to provide for the community as a whole. I have provided several articles edits in the past as well involving documentaries, glitches, parodies, trivias, links, sources and more to wiki page only to have it removed. Admin means well when he's deleting excess content. It's okay to be upset but if you want to help, see what the community needs help with first. Lv20ninja (talk) 10:00, 26 October 2017 (EDT)

another question regarding unofficial and fan-made terms: should the pages for community-named moves and plays like Marthritis and scarjump or Mangle be added, or are they just arbitrary trivia? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lasagna (talk • contribs) 23:18, 9 October 2017 (EST)
- We generally don't cover unofficial and fanmade terms unless they're widely known and popular, such as the Scar Jump. Anything lesser than that but still worth noting should just be trivia on the appropriate articles. Disaster Flare (talk) 19:09, 10 October 2017 (EDT)

Technique addition
Hey Flare, you think we should add information to the character pages in SSBM, SSBB, and SSB4 about their techniques like in Smash 64? Falco's Brawl page is the only one with them in there and I feel like we should add info to other character pages. Iron Gladiator (talk) 23:20, 17 October 2017 (EDT)

Translating to other languages?
—Preceding unsigned comment added by DanielCavazotte (talk • contribs) 22:33, 3 November 2017 (EST)
- Assuming you mean multi-language articles like certain other wikis have, as far as I'm aware, we do not host alternate language versions of the wiki. There might be some alternate language Smash wikis out there, but I can't say whether they're official or not. I'm asking one of the bureaucrats of the wiki now (who's been staff for over a decade now) to see if he can be of better help than I can. Disaster Flare (talk) 18:44, 3 November 2017 (EDT)
- Thank you for the quick reply! in fact, I do mean multi-language articles. I think it would be really cool to start a pt ssb wiki, but I have no idea how to go about doing something like that! If you get word of any plans to start any multi-language ssbwikis, please contact me! I plan on doing as much work as I can for at least a year or two until I finish college. Before then, I'm going to be putting in around 1 hour of work per day towards translating wiki articles. (DanielCavazotte (talk) 19:08, 3 November 2017 (EDT))
- I see two ways to interpret your intent here. If you mean "I want to make a new Smash Bros. wiki in a non-English language, using your articles as a starting point" (like Wikipedia or Bulbapedia), then go ahead, as long as you give proper attribution. But if you mean "I want to add articles in non-English languages to this existing wiki", that's an absolute can of worms for multiple reasons.
- We have no framework for multi-language support. There are wikis we can copy ideas from (e.g. the TF2 wiki), but that doesn't change that we currently have nothing.
- We don't have non-English editors. I say this with some hyperbole, since I'm sure we have some editors that can do other languages, but my point is more that we don't have enough mass to create and sustain basically a whole 'nother wiki. Yes I would expect some of your mentioned friends to join, but that only really kicks the can down the road from lacking "editors" to lacking "experienced editors".
- We don't have non-English administrators. This is a big deal in my opinion, since it means we have to resort to machine translation to check for vandalism and such (this is assuming that the non-English pages would eventually pick up non-English visitors outside your circle of friends).
- There's probably more problems that I haven't considered, but the gist is simple: we don't have a process for what you'd like to see, and we'd need a lot more than one person asking for it to consider it. Toomai Glittershine Da Bess 19:35, 3 November 2017 (EDT)

OK, I can't seem to create my userpage or talk page. Do I have to be autoconfirmed to to that, and if yes, how do I become autoconfirmed? Super Smash Mario (talk) 19:36, 18 February 2019 (EST)
- You do. It's 10 edits and 7 days to be autoconfirmed. Serpent King 20:12, 18 February 2019 (EST)

Gideon
I would appreciate hearing back from you.
Simon not appearing in an M-rated game...
Regarding this edit [2]: Isn't there a version of Simon Belmont that appears in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate (an M-rated game)? https://castlevania.fandom.com/wiki/Simon_Belmont_(Lords_of_Shadow)
Or does he not count since the Lords of Shadow series is set in a different timeline than the main series? SuperSmashTurtles (talk) 14:17, February 17, 2020 (EST)
Assistance
I may need some assistance with merging the bullet bill page together since users agree it should be merged. It won't me remove "enemy" from the title when I try to move the page. Also for future references when merging pages do the respective talk pages also get merged? - Woah you're quick nevermind my first question. OmegαToαd the Toαd Wαrrior (BUP) 00:51, April 6, 2020 (EDT)
- Ye I'm just watching a movie tonight so I'm not doing much. Talk pages I haven't ever really seen get merged, but I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing to merge them if you wanted to do that. Disaster Flare (talk) 00:52, April 6, 2020 (EDT)
- OK thanks I'll keep that in mind. OmegαToαd the Toαd Wαrrior (BUP) 01:02, April 6, 2020 (EDT)

Advice on handling disputes
Here's something I've been wanting to ask someone to help with, now be warned this might be a bit long: Dispute handling is something I always felt I needed to improve on. Now seeing how this is something SmashWiki looks for in admins I felt the best would be to ask one how to handle them, and with me being an admin on WikiBound this is something I need to be good at. Now for me the best way for me to learn is by example. To be fair I feel I haven't been in any big disbutes yet so I'll use the biggest one I've been in for an example: Template talk:Symbol.
- First I just decided to bluntly state that it was decided we're not changing the symbol, thinking they'll figure out that this discussion is long over. That didn't work.
- Later I tried a different approach and decided to make it seem like I myself am open to changing it and even gave my personal opinions on each symbol.
OmegαToαd the Toαd Wαrrior (BUP) 07:20, April 7, 2020 (EDT)
- You definitely have the foundation in place.
- tl;dr, you have a good foundation for dispute handling and the best qualities I recommend focusing on are patience, neutrality, and, as someone who's been guilty of this myself in the past, keeping your emotions in check, no matter how heated the dispute becomes. Disaster Flare (talk) 10:39, April 7, 2020 (EDT)
- Alright, thanks for the advice.
