One time, before any patches, I was trying to use the standard Charizard, but it wouldn't let me select the orange palette, and when I picked a custom set with that costume, it changed to the red palette every time. So I settled for it & it turned out the random CPU had a normal colored Charizard. I think this would be trivia, but unfortunately, I have no proof. Should this be mentioned here? Or somewhere else? :Which version was this? I only ask because after systematically checking every fighter in the 3DS version, I never encountered any missing palette swaps. However, I wasn't using custom fighters, and that may make the game go through a slightly different process when making random custom characters. It may also have been patched out since then. == Palette Swap redirect ==
Can we please have a redirect from Palette Seap to here? When I first started editing this wiki, I couldn’t find this page for the life of me. The reason is because I’ve always referred to these as Palette Swaps, as has everyone else I know (in real life) does. And I know quite a few people who play the game. Seeing as we have a redirect from Palette (which I personally find unnecessary), I don’t think it could hurt to have a redirect from Palette Swap. A while ago, I removed the trivia from this page that stated that Luigi had a Fire form-based alternate costume in every game because the alternate costume pages for Super Smash Bros. and Melee state that his white costume is based on his in-game appearance in Super Mario Bros., not his Fire form. This fact has been added back in, but I'd like confirmation. Should I assume that Luigi's SSB and SSBM white costumes are based on his appearance in Super Mario Bros., and thus the statement that his Fire form appears in all games would be false? :On the Smash 64 alternate costumes page, Sakurai refers to the costume as 昔のルイージ色:FCマリオブラザーズ (Old Luigi colors: Famicom Mario Bros.). So yeah, it's not based on his Fire form in 64 or Melee and you'd be right to remove it. ~ <span style="color: #e68;">Serena Strawberry</span> (talk) 10:29, October 8, 2020 (EDT)

Project M Alternate Costume Page?[edit]

I honestly don't see why we shouldn't do this. The game has a shitload of costumes to choose from, and, while some are mentioned on the pages themselves, it's still not a lot. Thoughts? AidanzapunkSignaturesmall.PNGAidan the Aura Master 00:35, 28 February 2015 (EST)

This is why we aren't doing that. tl;dr: We agreed that Project M would get it's own Character pages and it's own page, other than that it is never to be mentioned outside of those pages. There have been acceptions to this rule though, mostly in Advanced Technique and Metagame related pages. Laikue (talk | contribs) 00:53, 28 February 2015 (EST)

Blue Ring costumes for Link, Young Link, and Toon Link[edit]

Okay this bothers me. In Melee, the Blue Ring (white/lavender/blue/whatever you want to call it) costume for Link and Young Link is referred to as "white". In Brawl, it's "lavender" for Link. In Smash 4, it's "gray" for Toon Link. Can we pick one and stick with it...? It hasn't changed so much that it needs to be called a different color every time (actually, it's pretty much identical with the exception of Toon Link, who adds teal clothes underneath). ---Preceding unsigned comment added by you. Or maybe Nutta. 12:07, 20 June 2015 (EDT)

I just looked at it, and TL's is rightfully named; it might be the description that's off. As for Melee, I'd definitely rename it lavender. Aidanzapunksignature.pngAidan, Master of Speed and AuraAidanzapunkSignaturesmall.PNG 14:56, 20 June 2015 (EDT)
Toom's the one who sets those costume names, so he's the one to go to if you have a concern. Miles (talk) 15:36, 20 June 2015 (EDT)

Palettes with the random button are pre-determined.[edit]

One time, before any patches, I was trying to use the standard Charizard, but it wouldn't let me select the orange palette, and when I picked a custom set with that costume, it changed to the red palette every time. So I settled for it & it turned out the random CPU had a normal colored Charizard. I think this would be trivia, but unfortunately, I have no proof. Should this be mentioned here? Or somewhere else? Luigi's white costume[edit]
