- This page is about Kirby in Super Smash Bros.. For information about Kirby's appearance Melee, see here. For information about his Brawl appearance, see here.
Kirby (カービィ, Kābii) is a starter character in Super Smash Bros.. He is known for his great recovery, quick attacks, and surprisingly long-range aerials. His trademark move is the vacuum, which allows him to him suck in enemies and steal their neutral B attacks.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Great recovery(1 normal jump, 6 balloon jumps and the B + up jump)
- Has two spikes
- Less vulnerable to combos
- Surprisingly long range attacks, especially aerials
- Has a shield break combo
- Good at edgeguarding
- Fastest jab
- Fastest u-tilt
- He can easily avoid Master Hand's moves by turning into a stone.
Cons
Moveset
- Neutral B - Inhale. Kirby has 2 options after inhaling an opponent: pressing down or B to swallow the opponent and copy his B neutral move or pressing A to trow the opponent back out as a star.
- B + up - Ultimate Slash. Kirby gets his sword and fly upwards holding the sword horizontally. When he comes back and reaches the ground, a blue wave will continue the ground's length for a short time. This move is also seen in Kirby and the Amazing Mirror(Sword, Smash or Master Kirby).
- B+ down - Stone. Kirby becomes a stone, making him invincible for quite a while. If you're in the air, you'll go down fast, and heavily damage anyone below you.
- Neutral A - Punch. The third punch consecutive will become very fast, and all following. Good for edge-guards.
- A + up - In the ground, a fast kick to the air. In the air, Kirby will spin, damaging whoever touches him.
- A + front - A quick kick frontwards, very use full for high damaged foes. In the air, he will spin with his legs stuck out, damaging a lot everyone who touches him.
- R(grab) - Not chain grab. If you throw frontwards, Kirby will fly VERY high with the foe and dive back at full force, one of the best throw-downs in the game. If backwards, Kirby will make a loop and hit the opponent head first in the ground.
Combos, Tricks, Tactics
Extended Recovery
Kirby can maximize his horizontal recovery by pairing every aerial jump with F-air which allows him to recover much farther horizontally. Kirby still gains some vertical distance as well.
