The '''Side Special Move''' is a [[special attack]] introduced in ''[[Super Smash Bros. Melee]]''. It is performed by pressing the special move button while holding "left" or "right" on the control stick. The side special move is also commonly called, '''forward B''', '''side B''', and '''smash B''', due to the special move function having traditionally been relegated to the B button (''[[Super Smash Bros.]]'' and ''Melee'' lacked customizable controls).  Some forward B attacks are different depending on whether or not the control stick is "smashed" or simply tilted to the side. An example would be Samus' missiles, where a tilt B yields a weaker homing missile, and a smash B yields a stronger, faster missile.

Smash B (also known as Forward B and Side B) is a special move that debuted in Super Smash Bros. Melee. It can be performed by pressing the B button while tilting the control stick to the left or right. No matter what direction you turn the control stick, the same attack will be performed. Some characters' Smash B attacks are different depending on whether the control stick and B are both pressed at the same time or a bit after each other. For example, for Samus Aran, tilting the control stick to the left or right and then pressing B causes Samus to fire a weak seeker missile while tilting the control stick and pressing B at the same time will cause Samus to fire a stronger, faster seeker missile.
