I think it's worthwhile chronicling what fighters are mandatory and what ones are miss-able extras (Like Chrom and Mii Brawler being locked behind puzzles in the Sacred Realm) but I don't have all the info. As far as I remember the mandatory ones are Kirby (starter), Mario (only path), one of Marth, Villager and Sheik, Bowser (gained after defeating Giga Bowser), Young Link, Zelda and Ganondorf (Sacred Realm) [[User:Guybrush20X6|Guybrush20X6]] ([[User talk:Guybrush20X6|talk]]) 21:04, 17 December 2018 (EST)

Hype

Who is hyped Sammybambam11 (talk) 22:35, 1 November 2018 (EDT)

This is not the proper use of talk pages. See SW:TALK. SugarCookie420 (talk) 22:54, 1 November 2018 (EDT)

Title change to "Adventure Mode: World of Light"?

No, it's not shown in the trailer or like on SSE's logo, but it would match up how we have both previous adventure modes titled. Plus it's possible we haven't actually seen World of Light's logo yet; that subtitle on the trailer may have just been a placeholder, as it looked really basic. Plus as you can see on the official website, it is actually called Adventure Mode. VinSymbol.pngVinLAURiA (talk) 11:39, 2 November 2018 (EDT)

Actually, I just went ahead and did it; the page is young enough that it wouldn't mess anything up. I imagine no one will have an issue with this. VinSymbol.pngVinLAURiA (talk) 14:23, 2 November 2018 (EDT)

Isn't this page about SSBU?

Why is it not marked as 'documenting information about a future release' like the other Ultimate pages?

I just realized I forgot to sign my post. I am sorry. Everone123 (talk) 21:35, 3 November 2018 (EDT)

Hoshi no Kabi?

After some quick googling, 火灯 (Fire lamp?) seems to be consistently pronounced Katou or Kadou when used as a word in itself. The pronunciation of Kabi seems to come from pronouncing 火(ka) and 灯(hi) separately, like some kind of Ateji for Kirby. (and when combined this way it means "Fire fire" instead of "Fire lamp")

So I think it is not "...which is pronounced very similarly", but "...which can be pronounced very similarly". 219.77.59.130 07:37, 3 November 2018 (EDT)

This is good to note, but the phrasing on the page already covers this (it can be read as Hoshi no Kabi, it's just a non-standard reading). DryKirby64 (talk) 08:02, 3 November 2018 (EDT)
I still don't see the "bi" part for the 2nd Kanji

No Cutscenes

So, there is no cutscenes unlike Brawl: Subspace Emissary? --Dharakjoo (talk) 12:30, 3 November 2018 (EDT)

Well first of all there's the opening cutscene we see in the direct. In a menu tour Sakurai shows us later, we can see that the "movie" options has the caption "cutscenes from Adventure Mode, etc." 98.116.184.165 15:19, 4 November 2018 (EST)
To be more accurate, the caption says "videos such as Adventure Mode" (or "videos from Adventure Mode, etc."). The grammar leaves open the possibility that this one cutscene is all we get, and the rest of the Movies menu is Smash 4-like stuff such as newcomer trailers, congratulations videos, and How To Play. Zowayix (talk) 16:24, 4 November 2018 (EST)

Remove "Unconfirmed elements" section

This section is a whole paragraph of speculation that basically boils down to "we don't know whether the mode will have any cutscenes, or how many it will have if it does." We don't need this section up there for the month until release. SuperFalconBros (talk) 20:58, 3 November 2018 (EDT)

I've gone ahead and removed it per SW:SPEC. The stuff that was in the section can be added back into the article when, and if, it's confirmed. Rtzxy Reflect.jpg Reflect! 15:27, 4 November 2018 (EST)
Agree with removing the "it is unknown if X" parts, but added back two parts that have in-game evidence. Zowayix (talk) 15:43, 4 November 2018 (EST)

The Vault -> Movies tagline does not say "Watch Adventure Mode movies/cutscenes"

That was the phrasing used by Gamexplain, but it's different from the original text in a few critical ways. The original text is 「アドベンチャー」などの 映像を見る. 映像 means video (or image) and definitely doesn't mean "cutscene", which is a very specific term that implies something plot-related. In past Smash games we've seen 映像 used for the Melee Special Movie, prerelease trailers, the Opening, congratulations movies, and even How To Play. "Video" easily describes all of these; "cutscene" certainly does not. (It's not a case of ambiguous meaning either; as far as I can tell, Japanese doesn't even have its own word for "cutscene". It's a loanword from English, which makes it very obvious when it's used.)

But beyond that, the adjective in front of "video" (「アドベンチャー」など) means roughly "things like Adventure Mode", "such as Adventure Mode", "Adventure Mode and so on", etc.. So the whole sentence becomes "Watch videos of things like Adventure Mode", "Watch videos such as Adventure Mode", or "Watch videos of Adventure Mode and so on". Even if "videos" is plural, the grammar allows for a single Adventure Mode video plus multiple videos of other things like trailers. This piece of the original text doesn't appear anywhere in Gamexplain's phrasing, which makes it suspect. (Assuming good faith, their source might have just gotten too optimistic?)

In short, reverting. Zowayix (talk) 16:37, 7 November 2018 (EST)

The cliff at the start of the trailer

It's the same cliff used in brawl Sammybambam11 (talk) 12:09, 8 November 2018 (EST)

Yup, this is covered in the Trivia section. Zowayix (talk) 20:39, 8 November 2018 (EST)

Should we add that you can unlock fighters in the mode?

Okay I have found a line in the article that hints towards unlocking characters. It says "Other fighters can be unlocked for use by finding them and clearing the battles linked to them" And because of that sentence it should be added to the unlockables section. If it is speculation, we should remove the sentence that says it in the article. George Jones.jpg Corrin Fan Walls Can Fall.jpg 13:55, 11 November 2018 (EST)

Is there evidence for Reggie saying that World of Light is a way to unlock characters?

I came across a line in the unlockables that Reggie said that Adventure Mode: WOL is one of the ways to hint towards unlocking characters as a primary way or in any form. But there isn't a citation for it, so I'll add {{fact}} until there is a source. George Jones.jpg Corrin Fan Walls Can Fall.jpg 15:18, 17 November 2018 (EST)

I added the citation but removed the quote since it wasn't actually a direct quote from Reggie. SuperFalconBros (talk) 18:56, 17 November 2018 (EST)

Characters on the Map

I propose that when the game is released, we add the map(s) with the fighters' stock icons to indicate where they are first found to be unlocked on here, once we have all that information. Wolff (talk) 15:38, 27 November 2018 (EST)

Difficulty selection?

Does "World of Light" have a difficulty selection? 97.88.58.90 13:13, 28 November 2018 (EST)

yes Sammybambam11 (talk) 17:20, 29 November 2018 (EST)

Playable Master Hand?

I've seen it brought up on his own character pages and this page but I have seen at least parts of the ending and what looks like the final level and I don't see anybody playing as Master Hand but I do see them fighting the false characters. The false characters do match the descriptions stated which leads me to believe that someone who actually did this part of the game added that in as a lie or that there are more requirements than just getting to the true ending to do so.

Anyone know? WrappedInBlack (talk) 21:25, 2 December 2018 (EST)

Mandatory unlocks?

I think it's worthwhile chronicling what fighters are mandatory and what ones are miss-able extras (Like Chrom and Mii Brawler being locked behind puzzles in the Sacred Realm) but I don't have all the info. As far as I remember the mandatory ones are Kirby (starter), Mario (only path), one of Marth, Villager and Sheik, Bowser (gained after defeating Giga Bowser), Young Link, Zelda and Ganondorf (Sacred Realm) Guybrush20X6 (talk) 21:04, 17 December 2018 (EST)

Missing Sub-worlds pictures.

I noticed we are missing some sub-worlds from the Light Realm. I hope we can get those added to this page soon.--Jacob9594 (talk) 11:29, 15 January 2019 (EST)

Required Spirits on WoL

Will there be a section that clarifies which Spirits are required to go through obstacles in the World of Light? For example, Bomberman or Poppy Bros. Jr. is required to destroy boulders.

Echo Fighters and Originals trivia

I just noticed that Galeem ended up with control of the characters that had Echo Fighters, and Dharkon ended up with all of the Echo Fighters themselves. Should I address this in Trivia? CleffaGirl173 (talk) 10:14, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
