This template should be placed in-line on articles where a particular piece of information's validity is in question.

For example, if you run into an article that claims "Smasher Y once won a Brawl tournament with Ganondorf over their region's #1 ranked player" and you find the fact dubious as stated, insert {{fact}} at the end of the statement - i.e., "Smasher Y once won a Brawl tournament with Ganondorf over their region's #1 ranked player(citation needed)." This puts the onus on the editor to back up their information and provide a reference, per SmashWiki:Citation, to verify that the information in the article remains factual. Any outright misinformation or particularly egregious claims that aren't backed with a source should just be removed from the article, however, rather than being tagged with this template.
