Do the clouds appear in the SSB version?[edit]

I haven't played the SSB version of this stage in a long time and I don't remember the clouds being in it. So do the clouds appear in the SSB version?

Yes, just like in the Yoshi 64 stage in SSBM (though the stage on a whole is, of course, a lot smaller). --MaskedMarth 20:53, October 19, 2006 (GMT)
Actually the clouds only appear in vs. mode in SSB64. In SSB64 1-Player mode they're not there. I know the CPUs had issues getting someone who just jumped around on the clouds in SSB64, so that may be (emphasis on "may") why that is. In SSBM CPUs jump around the clouds just fine. (Also, in SSBM, when the clouds disappear, they don't make a sound like they do in SSB64.) --Kirby King 02:57, October 20, 2006 (GMT)

That's what a thought. I knew something had changed. Thanks for answering it.

One more question, why is this stage banned in tournaments?

Fox and Falco can sit on the far right cloud and shoot lasers across for the entire match. Some characters have a ridiuclously hard time trying to get out there (or back). This is a very poor setup for a tournament-worthy match. Imagine a Fox who hits a Link once and then runs to the cloud, camping there for the rest of the match. Link can't get out there without using his up+b, leaving him open for an easy kill. If Link doesn't go out there, Fox wins thanks to the % difference. --nealdt 08:32, October 20, 2006 (GMT)

Doubles viability[edit]

What's wrong with this stage in doubles?

98.26.46.142 16:02, 25 November 2015 (EST)

Same thing that's wrong with it in singles. The rightmost cloud is ridiculously far from the stage and it makes for really unbalanced gameplay. Having more players doesn't help with that. Zyrac (talk) 05:44, 26 November 2015 (EST)
I accidentally didn't put an edit summary so I'll say this here: looking at the page, it actually didn't make it very clear. I improved the text, but we could use an image showing where that cloud actually is. Zyrac (talk) 05:52, 26 November 2015 (EST)

Spawn points[edit]

So I booted up Smash 64 today and had three Captain Falcons fight on this stage. P1 Falcon started on the bottom platform, P2 started at the top platform and P3 started on the platform on the right.

Then I booted up Melee, keeping my Gamecube controllers in the same ports as SSB64. After selecting this stage, P1 started on the left platform, P2 on right platform and P3 on top platform. Dream Land and Kongo Jungle 64 both had the same start points as Smash 64; meaning that Yoshi's Island is the only stage to change starting positions in the transaction from Smash 64 to Melee. Should I note this in the article?
