The game was re-released in January 2019 via Nintendo Switch Online, albeit only in the Famicom version.

In a posting on the official Q&A site for Melee, director Masahiro Sakurai mentioned that Sukapon had been planned as an item for that game, but was cut because of unspecified "adult matters". Sakurai mentions that characters would have been able to ride Sukapon.
