That said, more related to your point, I found this with a little bit of research, supporting the idea that it isn't a bug. Couldn't find anything to say that it was a bug, but I personally hope it is one, since it would be a big change to the series as a whole, in contrast to the air dodge mechanics or the perfect shield.
