As a result, Zelda's strong punish game is not enough to make up for her poor mobility, endurance, neutral game, disadvantage state, approach potential and inconsistent moveset, resulting in Zelda struggling against most of the cast, much like she did in the previous two games. Ultimately, this meant that Zelda retained extremely minimal representation in competitive play much like the previous two games and in turn, extremely sparse results. However, Zelda has nevertheless managed to find a few instances of success, from players such as ven, Fairess, Purple Guy, Onpu, and Zolda.

Zelda is currently ranked dead last on the J tier out of 56 characters, being even worse than her placing of 37th of 38 characters in Brawl. She has a very long-distanced recovery in Farore's Wind that also happens to be her strongest KO move, a generally powerful moveset in her Lightning Kicks, and decent combo options. However, these are nullified by her numerous flaws: she is still plagued by her inconvenient archetype (light, tall, floaty, slow), a slow, linear recovery, very poor frame data, an ineffective projectile in Din's Fire that leaves her helpless, poorly placed hitboxes, and a poor neutral as a result of many of these. She also has had absolutely none of her major issues from Brawl fixed, while her effective KOing ability has been toned down and she can no longer Transform into Sheik to alleviate her weaknesses. This, in spite of her numerous buffs in updates, has significantly harmed her tournament success, as she has virtually no results or representation.
