Yuri is the central protagonist of ''Maiden of Black Water'', the fifth main entry in the ''Fatal Frame'' franchise. She's a 19-year-old woman who survived a car accident that killed her whole family; because of the accident, she developed a "Sixth Sense." This ability allows her to see ghosts. Throughout the game, she helps the other protagonists in solving strange cases around Mt. Hikami, a notoriously haunted location in the outskirts of Japan. Yuri is led to Mt. While the Camera Obscura's crosshair is based on the one that appears on the Wii U's GamePad or on the screen (depending on the set control scheme) and the ghostly wails are loosely based on the sound effects ghosts play when damaged in ''Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water'', the grainy effects and inverted colors seem to only be referencing her home series's status as a camera-oriented horror game.
 
Interestingly, the image in the background image is taken from the game's prologue drop, specifically the image displayed before the drop begins.
