| Do you have a source claiming that the failure of ''Metal Slader Glory''{{'}}s Super Famicom remake gave HAL Labs huge financial troubles? Because from what I can tell on several sources I can find, it was the original Famicom version whose failure almost bankrupt the company.
| |
|
| |
| I have extra reason to believe the latter considering the original version was a commercial failure, especially given that version's very high budget for a Famicom/NES game and the fact that first run copies of the game completely selling out wasn't even enough to cover the advertising budget; this is especially noticeable as this version was released in 1991, just a year before HAL had any sort of successful franchise with ''Kirby''. The SNES remake came out in 2000, and by that time, HAL had some pretty good successes such as the ''Kirby'' games and the original ''Super Smash Bros.''; and considering the remake doesn't look too different from the original the Famicom game (the remake looks more-or-less like a cleaner version of the original game), not to mention that Famicom's limitations was what made the original version very expensive to produce in the first place, I have a hard time believing that the remake's failure specifically was the contribution to HAL's serious financial troubles. | You are right. I looked into my sources and while they say both releases sold poorly, the original version was the one that almost bankrupted the company. All of them talked about the financial failure right after talking about the Director's cut version without specifying that they were talking about the original. I added some other small things with my edit, so just make the edits you made again without undoing mine.<small>—Preceding unsigned comment added by [[User:The Other Jared|The Other Jared]] ([[User talk:The Other Jared|talk]] • [[Special:Contributions/The Other Jared|contribs]]) 00:05, March 16, 2021 (EST)</small>

| Are you aware that you can edit all of the sections in one go if you press the "edit" button at the very top of the page, instead of pressing "edit" for each section? The way you're doing it now really clutters up [[Special:RecentChanges|Recent Changes]] (and, incidentally, my watchlist). Can't help but wonder if you're aware of this very handy way of editing everything at once.

|
| |
| I also should mention that reading over your changes by clicking "Show changes" and "Show preview" at the bottom can be very good for catching mistakes and finding further tweaks you can make. Hope this helps! | :Follow-up: please don't keep making drafts in the mainspace and then moving them to your userspace; make them directly in your userspace instead so there isn't a redirect from the mainspace that shouldn't be there. | ::Bumping this, please don't create a moveset page just to have the hitbox image there. I left Kazuya's jabs like that because I'm waiting for Toomai to create the proper effect for them. It just makes it harder for me to remember what I haven't done and just makes everything harder. Just stop. | == Files ==
| |
|
| |
| When you upload files, try to add categories to them; can be listed anywhere in the upload summary, though they are typically put at the end. The main reasons for this is to keep things organized and easy to find as well as keeping the list of currently [[Special:UncategorizedFiles|uncategorized files]] down. Additionally, I'd recommend fleshing out your summaries more than "for x article". Some ideas for that are to detail what is in the file or mention where the file comes from. The reasons for this are to possibly locate other good files or documentation and that summaries are sometimes used for alt text, and alt text is used for either when an image fails to load (the alt text will just be shown on screen) or for screen readers to aid those with disabilities. Alternatively you can leave the summary blank (except for categories) and the alt text defaults to the filename, which ''should'' be a decent description of the file. --[[User:CanvasK|CanvasK]] ([[User talk:CanvasK|talk]]) 21:39, August 12, 2021 (EDT)

|
| |
| Hey, so I noticed [[Special:Diff/1634499|this edit]] has a few mistakes in some, but the ones I want to prominently talk about are the games with the "wrong links".
| |
|
| |
| In that edit, ''Famicom Wars'' and ''Game Boy Wars'' lead to disambiguation pages. What you could've done to link to the specific games is by doing this: <code><nowiki>{{iw|wikiname|Title|game}}</nowiki></code>
| |
|
| |
| Additionally, both ''Advance Wars: Dual Strike'' and the ''Battalion Wars'' games used the wrong title/spelling, thus leading to non-existent pages.
| |
|
| |
| In the future, please proofread your edits more by clicking on each link so that it leads to the desired page. [[File:JacketTerraSig1.png|20px]]'''The [[User:The Jacketed Terrapin|<span style="color: blue;">Jacketed</span>]] [[User talk:The Jacketed Terrapin|<span style="color: green;">Terrapin</span>]]'''[[File:JacketTerraSig2.png|20px]] 20:08, November 1, 2021 (EDT)
| |
| :Reminder of this again. In your [[Special:Diff/1713730|"Xevious (universe)" edit]], not only do you ignore the "iw" again, but you also leave in the parentheses, which completely mess up the link. To showcase what I mean:
| |
| :*<code><nowiki>{{s|wikipedia|Scramble|(video game)}}</nowiki></code> -> {{s|wikipedia|Scramble|(video game)}} = Redirects to a disambiguation page; all but one of the targets have nothing to do with the Konami game.
| |
| :*<code><nowiki>{{iw|wikipedia|Scramble|(video game)}}</nowiki></code> -> {{iw|wikipedia|Scramble|(video game)}} = Redirects to a non-existent page.
| |
| :*<code><nowiki>{{iw|wikipedia|Scramble|video game}}</nowiki></code> -> {{iw|wikipedia|Scramble|video game}} = Redirected to the desired page.
| |
| :If you want to avoid mistakes like these again, I highly advise using the [[SmashWiki:Show preview|Show preview button]]. That way, you can check if your edits are okay and, as I stated in the my previous discussion, check to see if the links work as intended. So please, '''proofread''' your edits. | == Your edits on competitive pages ==
| |
|
| |
| From what I've noticed, several of your edits for the competitive scene tend to lack encyclopedic wording and/or neutrality (for example, saying "the damage done to the community will never fully heal" is very much a statement that feels opinionated). [https://www.ssbwiki.com/index.php?title=Metagame_(documentary)&diff=1604600&oldid=1585772 I remember this edit from nearly a year ago having similar issues as well]. Please try to [[SW:NPOV|keep a neutral point of view]] when making edits!
| |
|
| |
| Additionally, please make sure to link to smasher and tournament pages directly rather than linking to redirects! [[User:PokemonMasterJamal3|PokemonMasterJamal3]] ([[User talk:PokemonMasterJamal3|talk]]) 06:58, June 21, 2022 (EDT)
| |
| :Linking to redirects is fine and should be done over a longer direct link as that will lessen the page's size while achieving the same effect. Part of why redirects exist in the first place is so that editors don't need to pipe in the link or use a template that takes more effort and space, while also keeping the wikitext easier to read. <span style="font-family:Edwardian Script ITC; font-size:12pt">[[User:Omega Tyrant|<span style="color:forestgreen">Omega</span>]] [[User talk:Omega Tyrant|<span style="color:forestgreen">Tyrant</span>]]</span> [[File: TyranitarMS.png ]] 10:14, June 21, 2022 (EDT)
