:Couldn't we accomplish that without adding a separate column? Seems better than leaving blank table cells on pages where they aren't needed or coding a lot of extra conditional parts into the template. :I think it would be. Things like Puff Up and Onslaught have radically different names in certain languages. <span style="color: lime">Nyargle</span><span style="color: orange">blargle</span> (Talk) 18:20, 2 July 2015 (EDT)

If it's worth anything, the names on the website seem to use the Japanese writing at the bottom as opposed to the Chinese translations. :Yeah, but that doesn't necessarily mean the games themselves will just use the Japanese names. I don't know almost anything about Japanese -> Chinese localization, though, so I'd definitely need some level of input from those more knowledgeable on the subject. Nice work. I think the template is ready for primetime. <span style="font-family:Mario Party 2/3 Textbox"><span style="color:red">Rick</span><span style="color:green">Tommy</span></span> 06:14, 9 August 2015 (EDT)
:I still think it needs an optional meanings column. <span style="color: lime">Nyargle</span><span style="color: orange">blargle</span> (Talk) 19:54, 14 August 2015 (EDT)
::To be clear, I'm nowhere close to implementing this. I still want further input from other users on the subjects listed first. Any progress on this? --Menshay (talk) 15:11, 18 December 2015 (EST)
:Haven't worked on it seriously in a while; got a bunch of other stuff I'd prefer to work on first. With Ultimate coming out, should we revisit this idea? I'd be interested in doing this for all fighters and possibly stages if we see fit. The Dojo has 15 official languages. Nergal06 (talk) 15:38, 17 August 2018 (EDT)
Honestly the Bulbapedia implementation of this template is near perfect and addresses most of Miles' grievances. I would suggest to ask them an hand in porting it over to our wiki. The meaning column is optional and hidden by default, so it would be quite easy to implement. Whether or not we want to use it and on which pages depends more on a policy issue rather than a technical issue. Another thing I like on their template is that languages with multiple standards (relevant cases here being English, French and Spanish) are split in multiple rows, as you can see on the template page. Lastly, I would personally suggest to use the flag of Mexico for Latin America because I am pretty sure Latin American Nintendo localizations are based on Mexican Spanish. --Rdrfc (talk) 12:28, April 6, 2020 (EDT)
