Work on it began in 2020, and after a hiatus, rankings were released in 2022. ΩRank operates under an iterative calculation system, in which the weights of tournaments and the value of wins and losses are determined all at once at the end of the season based on how each player performed at the events they attended relative to all other players.

ΩRank 2021 covers tournaments from March 1st, 2021 in Japan and June 1st, 2021 in the rest of the world until the {{Trn|Smash World Tour 2021 Championships}}. Rather than having any quantitative methods for qualifying events, tournaments were selected largely based on if they had one or more top 100 players in attendance.
