Whereas the current system of RfA does not adequately address these considerations, it is resolved that this system should be changed.

'''RfA's never close.''' A candidate must seek a current administrator to provide a sponsorship, unsubject to veto or denial by any other administrator. An administrator must review the attitude, knowledge, and edits of the candidate before conferring a sponsorship. It must be understood that it should not always be necessary for a current administrator to review these qualities; an ideal candidate would already have made him/herself known on all these accounts, but in the case of a borderline candidate, a review is advisable.  Once a sponsorship is conferred, the RfA is put for review by the community on [[SmashWiki:Requests for adminship]].

As per the previous policy, the community then casts their vote on whether adminship should be conferred to the candidate as either a 'Support' or 'Oppose' vote, placed under headers for each position. A sentiment distinguished by the mild or superlative degree is not to be considered in the final tally, but merely considered equal. Any explanation of the vote is not necessary, but may be discussed on the Talk Page of the particular candidate's request. However, '''silence is not to be taken as presumption of acceptance.''' Nominations are open for a week; they are not indefinite, but they can be extended by an administrator due to poverty of input or extraneous variables including vandalism. Once the week is finished, a tally is taken of the votes. In order for adminship to be conferred, the candidate '''must have received a ratio of 5:2 in favor.''' If the number of votes does not exceed what is necessary, then the sponsoring sysop may choose to extend the nomination process.
