All of these count {{for3ds}} and {{forwiiu}} as separate games. DLC appearances are not counted for this table, due to the fact that less than 12% of the current roster was ever downloadable, and thus ''[[Super Smash Bros. Ultimate]]''{{'}}s DLC characters will not be included on this table. Also, the [[Mii Fighter]]s are not included because they aren't really starter or unlockable; you just need to make one for the character select portrait to appear.

*Dr. Mario, Pichu, Falco, Young Link, Mewtwo, Roy, Mr. Game & Watch, Snake, R.O.B., Wolf, Lucina, Dark Pit, Ryu, Cloud, Corrin and Bayonetta are the only characters to appear in multiple games and not be a starter in any of them.
*{{forwiiu}} is the only game in which the 4 unlockable characters from ''Smash 64'' are all starters, as well as the only game in which Jigglypuff, Ganondorf, and Bowser Jr. are starters.
*Peach, Bowser, the Ice Climbers, Zelda, Sheik, Meta Knight, Pit, Zero Suit Samus, Ike, Charizard, Diddy Kong, King Dedede, and Olimar are the only characters that appear in more than one game (counting ''Smash 4'' as one game) prior to ''[[Super Smash Bros.
