It was the first in the series of [[Texas Gaming Championships]] tournaments. [[Custom move]]sets were allowed and the tournament operated under the 3 stock, 7 minute ruleset. There were ''{{iw|mariowiki|Mario Kart 8}}'' and ''{{iw|bulbapedia|Pokémon X and Y}}'' side events as well.
