{{Sm|Raru}}, the 2nd seed of the event, won the tournament, giving him his second major in ''Ultimate.'' {{Sm|Raru}} defeated {{Sm|Ogatou}} (34th seed), {{Sm|MASA}} (15th seed) and {{Sm|Lax}} (26th seed) in top 96 in order to qualify for top 8. In top 8, Raru defeated {{Sm|Doramigi}} (3rd seed) and {{Sm|Hurt}} (1st seed) to get in Grand Finals, where he would face off against Doramigi. Doramigi would win the reset 3-1, however Raru would prevail 3-2.
The top 8 saw two unexpected players,  in {{Sm|Navy}} (21st seed) and {{Sm|Tas}} (37th seed). Navy would get into top 8 through winners by defeating {{Sm|Seika}} (53rd seed), {{Sm|Snow|p=Japan}} (5th seed), and {{Sm|Futari no Kiwami Ah~!}} (36th seed). In top 8, Navy would lose his first set to Hurt 2-3 and his second to {{Sm|Maister}} (6th seed) 0-3, finishing  5th. 
Tas became the first player to make the top 8 of a major using {{SSBU|Piranha Plant}} since {{Sm|Brood}} at {{Trn|Umebura SP 4}}. Due to Tas losing their final round of group stage to {{Sm|Yn}} (28th seed), Tas would have to win 7 sets in losers to make top 8. Of particular note, Tas upset {{Sm|DIO}} (27th seed), Lax and {{Sm|Asimo}} (4th seed). Tas lost their first set of top 8 to Maister. Asimo as a result would finish 13th, after having also been upset during the group stage by {{Sm|Tsumusuto}} (61st seed) and Snow would finish 13th after being upset by {{Sm|Raki}} (19th seed).
The tournament saw a number of other significant runs, including ones from Futari no Kiwami Ah~!, {{Sm|Shinnnnnji}} (50th seed), {{Sm|Malk}} (110th seed), {{Sm|Masamon}} (97th seed), and {{Sm|Fuku}} (109th seed).
Futari no Kiwami Ah~! placed 9th after upsetting {{Sm|Rarikkusu}} (13th seed), Shinnnnnji and Malk placed 13th after upsetting {{Sm|Gorioka}} (11th seed) and {{Sm|Senra}} (31st seed) and Raki, {{Sm|Jogibu}} (23rd seed), and {{Sm|DieGorou}} (35th seed) respectively. Masamon placed 33rd after upsetting {{Sm|mzk}} (32nd seed) and {{Sm|Shion|p=Kansai}} (33rd seed) during group stage while Fuku also placed 33rd after beating {{Sm|Tsuna}} (20th seed) and {{Sm|Rearlet}} (45th seed).
