While the tournament's 1st seed, {{Sm|Hurt}}, won the event without dropping a set, the only other player seeded to make top 8 to do so was the 4th seed {{Sm|Asimo}}.
{{Sm|Shuton}}, the 2nd seed, placed 9th after being upset by the 18th seed {{Sm|Shirayuki}} and the 24th seed {{Sm|Kome}}. Shirayuki would end up finishing 2nd, after also taking sets over {{Sm|MASA}}, {{Sm|alice}}, {{Sm|Karaage}}, and {{Sm|Ryuoh}} while Kome would place 4th after beating Asimo, {{Sm|Kaninabe}}, and {{Sm|Nizemamo}}.
The aforementioned alice, while only seeded 14th, would place 5th after upsetting the 3rd seed and winner of the last of Sumabato, {{Sm|Raru}}, and the 5th seed {{Sm|Doramigi}}.
Raru would fall at 17th after also being upset by by the 39th seed {{Sm|DIE-Gorou}}, while Doramigi's run would end  at 9th to the 20th seed {{Sm|Gorioka}}. Gorioka, would finish 5th after also beating MASA, {{Sm|Rizeasu}}, and {{Sm|Ryuoh}}.
The other three top 8 seeds to be eliminated prior to top 8 were  {{Sm|Snow|p=Japan}}, {{Sm|Jogibu}}, and {{Sm|Lv.1}}. Snow would fall at 25th after being upset by the 21st seed {{Sm|Raki}} and 28th seed {{Sm|Navy}}. Meanwhile, Jogibu and Lv.1 would fall at 33rd. Jogibu was upset by the 25th seed Nizemamo and DIE-Gorou. Lv.1 on the other hand, had opted to only use their secondary, {{SSBU|Isabelle}}, throughout the tournament.
