==Tournament summary==
Although he had won the last three Sumabato events, including the [[Tournament:KOWLOON 9 with Sumabato|crossover with KOWLOON]], the first seed {{Sm|Miya|p=Honshu}} was upset very early on by #65 seed {{Sm|Shion|p=Kansai}} 2-0 (upset factor 12) before falling to #27 seed {{Sm|Yone_pi}} 3-2 for 9th (upset factor 9), marking not only Miya's worst Japanese placement since {{Trn|Kagaribi 9}}, but also the first Sumabato event where he did not place in the top 8 since {{Trn|Sumabato SP 30}} almost 2 years prior. With #4 seed {{Sm|Yoshidora}} losing to {{Sm|Asimo}} 3-0 and #26 seed {{Sm|Kuroponzu}} 2-3 (upset factor 7) for 9th, no previous major winner was present in top 8.
On the other hand, after falling to {{Sm|Injelly}}, Kuroponzu saw a 12-set Losers run, which includes eliminating {{Sm|Tsuna}} 3-2, Yoshidora, {{Sm|Rarikkusu}} 3-0, {{Sm|Snow|p=Japan}} 3-0, {{Sm|Eik}} 3-1, and {{Sm|Asimo}} 3-2 to meet {{Sm|Raru}} in Grand Finals. Although Kuroponzu took the first set 3-2, Raru held him off in the reset 3-2 to win the event, his first major win after having come close several times before. This not only marked first-ever major win for a {{SSBU|Luigi}} player in ''Ultimate'', but the first-ever major win for any [[Luigi]] player in ''Smash'' history.
