Scores are calculated based off of placements, with higher tiered events offering more points for a wider range of placements. The following factors into the final score:
*Top 3 Platinum results
*Top 3 Gold results
*Top 6 Silver results

The top 31 players then move on to the finals, with a Last Chance qualifier for the last slot.

As a result, Smash World Tour released a statement<ref>https://twitter.com/SmashWorldTour/status/1238147882668175361</ref> on March 12, 2020 detailing their measures to prevent the spread of the virus.

* There would be no Platinum or Gold tier events in March and April 2020.
**{{Trn|CEO Dreamland 2020}} was going to be a Gold tier event marking the start of the tour. While it wasn't canceled, its tour points were removed.
**{{Trn|HFLAN Melee Edition 2020}} was going to be the first Platinum tier event, but it was postponed to Fall 2020.
**Pound 2020 was canceled. It was going to be the first Platinum tier event for ''Ultimate'' and the second for ''Melee''.

* Silver events would continue as normal. However, it was recommended for sick people to stay home.
