At 683 entrants, this is the largest ''Melee'' Shine tournament since {{Trn|Shine 2018}}, and the largest Shine ever held at the Worcester venue. It is also one of the largest Shine events for ''Melee'' in terms of top talent, with 6 of the [[SSBMRank Summer 2023|most recent ranking's top 10]] in attendance. {{Sm|Cody Schwab}}'s victory marked the first and only time a {{SSBM|Fox}} player, the origin of the namesake of the tournament series, won an installment of Shine; he also broke {{Sm|Zain}}'s major winning streak spanning from {{Trn|Fête 3: By the Sea}} to {{Trn|Super Smash Con 2023}}. {{Sm|Aklo}}'s run to 3rd place, accruing wins over {{Sm|Wevans}}, {{Sm|Jmook}}, {{Sm|SDJ}} and most notably bracket demon {{Sm|aMSa}} marked his best tournament run at a notable ''Melee'' event since his victory at {{Trn|Redemption Rumble}}.

Despite being the final Shine tournament, this marks the smallest Shine tournament for the most-recent ''Smash'' game, with the entrants count not even cracking 400 entrants. The number of top talent attending the event was also noticeably smaller than previous iterations: with {{Sm|Tweek}}'s dropout due to {{Trn|Tera}} the following week, only 3 of the [[LumiRank Mid-Year 2023|most recent ranking's top 50 players]] were in attendance.

The #4 seed, {{Sm|Jakal}}, was eliminated at 9th place, losing to #5 seed {{Sm|Aaron|p=Florida}} and #17 seed {{Sm|DM}}, with the latter being an upset factor of 5.
