With {{Sm|ZeRo}}'s absence from the ''Smash 4'' event due to medical issues, {{Sm|Abadango}} won his first major American tournament using {{SSB4|Mewtwo}}, a character generally considered to be mid [[tier]] at the time. {{Sm|Dabuz}} failed to make top eight while {{Sm|Nairo}} was eliminated early on at a disappointing 49th place, his worst placing at a major so far. {{Sm|Marss}} and {{Sm|Pink Fresh}} also notably placed 3rd and 7th, respectively.
