This was the first Premier event of the [[LumiRank 2024.2]] season, having a large amount of Japan's top talent coming to the event as well as two overseas players in attendance; {{Sm|Sparg0}} and {{Sm|Yoda Cage}}. The only notable top Japanese players missing from the tournament were {{Sm|Yoshidora}}, {{Sm|Yaura}}, {{Sm|Neo|p=Japan}} and {{Sm|Kaninabe}}. The first day of pools ran up until top 192.

The first day of the tournament saw notable upsets in pools, with #8 seed {{Sm|Tea}} losing to #264 seed {{Sm|Moyashi No Sokojikara}} 1-2 (upset factor 11) and #9 seed {{Sm|TamaPDaifuku}} losing to #137 seed {{Sm|Nyonoknb}} 2-3 (upset factor 8). In total, 20 of the top 64 seeds were upset on the first day.
The first day of the tournament saw many notable upsets in pools, with #8 seed {{Sm|Tea}} losing to #264 seed {{Sm|Moyashi|p=Ultimate}} 1-2 (upset factor 11), #9 seed {{Sm|TamaPDaifuku}} losing to #137 seed {{Sm|Nyonoknb}} 2-3 (upset factor 8), and #13 seed {{Sm|KEN}} losing to #52 seed {{Sm|Rarikkusu}} 2-3 (upset factor 4). In total, 20 of the top 64 seeds were upset on the first day.

This tournament notably saw several players make deep bracket runs to significantly outplace their seed and cause massive upsets along the way. This includes #181 seed {{Sm|Sin|p=Ultimate}}, who placed 9th after defeating #12 seed {{Sm|Kameme}} 3-2 (upset factor 8), #21 seed {{Sm|Karaage}} 3-1 (upset factor 6), and #5 seed {{Sm|Shuton}} 3-2 (upset factor 10); #697 seed {{Sm|Lummy}}, who placed 33rd after defeating #72 seed {{Sm|Harasen}} 2-1, #57 seed {{Sm|Yone_pi}} 3-2, and #136 seed {{Sm|Chon}} 3-1; #166 seed {{Sm|Sumaho}} and #111 seed {{Sm|Konokururu}} both placing 25th, with the former eliminating Tea 3-2 at 33rd (upset factor 9); and #107 seed {{Sm|Furararamen}} and #98 seed {{Sm|shirome}} both placing 17th. The former defeated #22 seed {{Sm|Yamanaction}} 3-1 (upset factor 5) and #86 seed {{Sm|MairudonaH.O}} 3-1, and the latter defeated #31 seed {{Sm|Gorioka}} 3-1 in winners bracket before eliminating #35 seed {{Sm|uame}} 3-0, #66 seed  {{Sm|Riteshia}} 3-0, Karaage 3-2 (upset factor 7), and #50 seed {{Sm|Raki}} 3-2.
The second day continued the large slew of upsets. TamaPDaifuku was ultimately eliminated at 129th after losing to {{Sm|Kurofune}} 2-3 (upset Factor 6), tying {{Trn|Kagaribi 11}} as his worst offline placement to date. Other top talent would get upset, such as #3 seed {{Sm|Hurt}} losing to {{Sm|alice}} for an Upset Factor of 7, Hurt would then get a win on Rimu but get upset by {{Sm|Lea}} resulting in a 25th place finish, one of his worst placings since his breakout performance at {{Trn|Kagaribi 10}}. #5 seed Shuton and #6 seed Sparg0 would make it all the way to Top 48 winners side, before being upset by {{Sm|Sin|p=Ultimate}} and {{Sm|Doramigi}} respectively, getting placed into the losers bracket. Sparg0 would start to make a long losers run to make top 8, proceeding to beat {{Sm|shirome}}, {{Sm|alice}} and {{Sm|MASA}}, while Shuton would place 9th after a small losers run, notably losing to {{Sm|Zackray}}. In addition, Tea and #13 seed {{Sm|KEN}} would proceed to get upset, with Tea losing to {{Sm|Sumaho}} causing an upset factor of 9 and KEN losing to {{Sm|Rarikkusu}} and {{Sm|Ryuoh}}, sending both to get eliminated at 33rd. Ryuoh would notably make a strong losers run, as in addition to defeating KEN he would also defeat #4 seed Raru, Toriguri, #17 seed Snow and Akakikusu to make top 8 after losing to Zackray.

Upsets continued into the second day of the tournament. TamaPDaifuku was ultimately eliminated at 129th after losing to #93 seed {{Sm|Kurofune}} 2-3 (upset factor 6), tying {{Trn|Kagaribi 11}} as his worst offline placement to date; Kameme was eliminated at 65th after losing to #56 seed {{Sm|Akio}} 0-3 (upset factor 5); #3 seed {{Sm|Hurt}} was upset by #30 seed {{Sm|alice}} 1-3 (upset factor 7) and #92 seed {{Sm|Lea}} 0-3 (upset factor 10) to place 25th; #4 seed {{Sm|Raru}} was upset by #68 seed {{Sm|Toura}} 0-3 (upset factor 9); #13 seed {{Sm|KEN}} lost to #52 seed {{Sm|Rarikkusu}} 2-3 (upset factor 4); #6 seed Sparg0 was knocked into losers by #11 seed {{Sm|Doramigi}} 1-3; and #15 seed {{Sm|Gackt}} was eliminated by #49 seed {{Sm|Nao|p=Hokkaido}} 1-3 to place 17th. In addition, after losing to #7 seed {{Sm|Zackray}} 0-3 in top 192 winners side, #26 seed {{Sm|Ryuoh}} would make a deep losers run, eliminating KEN 3-2, Raru 3-2 (upset factor 6), #24 seed {{Sm|Toriguri}} 3-0, #17 seed {{Sm|Snow}} 3-2, and #14 seed {{Sm|Akakikusu}} 3-1 before losing the runback against Zackray 1-3 to place 7th, making Ryuoh's best placement at a supermajor. Also, #31 seed {{Sm|Lv.1}} finished his run at 4th after eliminating Zackray 3-2, which not only marked his best tournament run of his career since placing 7th at {{Trn|DELTA 8}}, but also the best placement for a [[Toon Link (SSBU)|Toon Link]] player at a supermajor.
In addition to the upsets, several players made deep unexpected runs. Some examples included Sin (seed 181), placing 9th, shirome (seed 98), and {{Sm|Furararamen}} (seed 108), placing 17th, {{Sm|Konokururu}} (seed 111) and Sumaho (seed 166) placing 25th, and {{Sm|Lummy}} (seed 697) placing 33rd.

Top 8 saw {{Sm|acola}} and {{Sm|Miya}} meet each other once again in Winners Finals, where Miya defeated acola 3-1. Sparg0 made a long losers run into top 8, where he eliminated several players in runbacks including {{Sm|Asimo}} 3-1, Doramigi 3-1, and Lv.1 3-0. Ultimately, acola was forced to face his biggest bracket demon Sparg0 in Losers Finals in a runback from the Tokyo Smash Boot Camp 5 crew battle, where Sparg0 nearly reverse three-stocked acola. However, acola was able to prevail over Sparg0, defeating him 3-1 using his pocket {{SSBU|Aegis}}, marking the second time acola defeated Sparg0 having lost to him seven times in a row following their first encounter at the {{Trn|Ludwig Smash Invitational}}. This win also caused the tournament commentators to cry, as they were seemingly happy that acola was able to defend his home turf over his toughest opponent. After, acola met Miya in grand finals, where he managed to reset the bracket in a dominant 3-0. However, Miya clutched out in a close game 5 set after whiffing a dash attack that caused acola to SD after being spiked by one of his blocks, giving Miya his third Premier Tier tournament win of the year along with {{Trn|Kagaribi 12}} and {{Trn|KOWLOON 9 with Sumabato}}, as well as being the first player to win a major in the LumiRank 2024.2 season.
