Tournament Summary
Stagelist
Some notable upsets occurred during this tournament. Mango who at the time was a Jigglypuff main on the come up beat Mew2King in pools, then considered to be the best player in the world. Mew2King then lost to Chillin in the losers top 8 qualifier to finish at an underwhelming 9th place. Mango continued his run by upsetting Ken in winners-semis. He then lost to HugS in winners finals and Ken in a losers finals rematch to finish at 3rd place. Ken, after getting upset by Mango, made a losers run beating ChuDat, PC Chris, Mango, and HugS in 2 sets of grand finals to win the tournament. After the tournament many analysts wrote off Mango's win against Mew2King and 3rd place finish as a fluke until his win at Pound 3.
* Starters: Battlefield, Final Destination, Dream Land, Yoshi's Story, Fountain of Dreams, Pokémon Stadium
* Counterpicks: Mute City, Green Greens, Rainbow Cruise, Kongo Jungle 64, Brinstar, Poké Floats, Corneria, Jungle Japes

No stage striking provision was present in the documented ruleset.
