Compared to Apex 2015, ''Smash 64'' fell from 188 entrants to 55 entrants, ''Melee'' notably went from 1,037 entrants to only 159 entrants, ''Smash 4'' fell from 837 entrants to 309 entrants, and the ''Brawl'' event was completely cancelled due to poor turnout. The poor attendance extended to games outside of ''Smash'', with ''{{s|wikipedia|Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3}}'', ''{{iw|wikipedia|Killer Instinct|2013 video game}}'', and ''{{s|wikipedia|Mortal Kombat X}}'' all having their respective events cancelled.
