Top Japanese players {{Sm|Abadango}} and {{Sm|Komorikiri}} were flown out to the event. A {{SSB4|Mewtwo}} round robin side event was also hosted, and bonus participants were added through the [https://start.gg/tournament/2ggt-abadango-saga/shop/2ggift-shop-3 2GGift Shop]. The event held the record for the largest one-day tournament in Smash history, before being surpassed by {{Trn|Umebura SP}} two years later.

**Furthermore, his placement stands as his worst placing in an American tournament since [[GENESIS 3]].
