It was a free-to-enter tournament (outside of venue fees) to commemorate {{Team|2GGaming}}'s achievements throughout 2016, which include a 10,000 subscribers milestone on [[YouTube]], the most-viewed channel on [[Twitch]] at a time and one of the top 10 largest ''Smash Wii U'' tournaments of all time, that being [[2GGT: Abadango Saga]].
