A '''Ticken''' ({{ja|テキン|Tekin}}, ''Tekin'') is an enemy in the [[Subspace Emissary]] and first appears in [[The Plain]]. It looks like a giant, metallic chicken, though upon defeat, its "body" falls apart and reveals that a yellow bird was piloting the Ticken. The bird chirps, then flies away. The Ticken has two attacks, one where it flies into the air and then attacks with an attack similar to the [[Bowser Bomb|Bowser]] or [[Yoshi Bomb]], which can [[buried|bury]], and another where it extends its spikes and rams the player. Due to their defeat animation having their body fall apart, Tickens cannot be subjected to [[careening]].

==Name origin==
Ticken's name is a combination of the words ''tick'', describing what it does with its sharp, metal comb, and ''chicken'', describing the creature itself. It's Japanese name "Tekin/テキン" seems to be a corruption of "chicken (チキン)", as the katakana ''te/テ'' and ''chi/チ'' look very similar.
