'''The Ultimate Battle''' is a co-op [[event match]] in {{forwiiu}}. Both players must choose a character and take on all playable fighters (excluding {{SSB4|Mii Fighter}}s and [[downloadable content|DLC]] characters) in the game (48 in total). The order of the characters go from clones, to unlockable characters in {{for3ds}}, third party characters, and starters. Each of these groups are ordered from newcomers to ''Brawl'' veterans, ''Melee'' veterans, and ''Smash 64'' veterans.

== Progression ==
This event is unlocked by clearing [[Final Battle Team-Up]] and unlocking [[List of unlockables (SSB4-Wii U)#Unlockable characters|all characters]]. Completing the event does not unlock any further paths.

10000G is awarded for clearing this event on hard difficulty.

*The event icon resembles the boxart for {{forwiiu}} with more characters. 
*This is the only Co-op event to involve {{SSB4|Jigglypuff}}, {{SSB4|Shulk}} and {{SSB4|Sheik}}, as they are not played as or fought in any other Co-op events.
*After {{Sm|Hungrybox}} [https://twitter.com/LiquidHbox/status/1010509845013979137 tweeted] out a picture of The Ultimate Battle, [https://mynintendonews.com/2018/06/24/sakurai-might-have-teased-super-smash-bros-ultimate-in-super-smash-bros-for-wii-u-years-ago/ speculation arose] that the event was "teasing" the then-upcoming ''[[Super Smash Bros. Ultimate]]'', due to its name, and the event description saying "They're all here!"; however, as the name in Japanese also translates to "The Ultimate Battle", and the name of ''Ultimate'' in Japan being ''Super Smash Bros. Special'', the naming connection between the event and the game is purely coincidental.
