| I would like to insert a general comment here about templates like these that are basically canned responses: their usefulness is proportional to the size of the wiki and number of cases where it is applicable. I agree that in our current state we don't need a canned response for generic vandalism, as a personalized warning is far more useful and we don't currently have enough cases that people get snowed under trying to warn the miscreants. Will we need to remake this when we get bigger and have more people to deal with? Unanswerable.

While SW:QDV says that we should assume good faith and report vandals to admins, there are cases when users may be doing editing tests and be unaware that their edits are saved. Another thing to note is that without some kind of warning that shows up on a vandal's talk page, they may not be aware of their blocks (especially if they are an infrequent vandal and their block is only a day or so). The reason it is rarely used is because, as Toomai said, we don't have much vandalism right now. But unless the case is a long time vandal like Poopy or SmashPeter, it's important to make the vandal aware of their actions and the consequences of such behavior.
