I don't see too much of a reason to combine SSB(universe) with SSB(series). I mean, the other universes/series are split up. Besides, (universe) is for more of an in-game look at things, while (series) is more of an out-of-game subject. So SSB(u) would discuss the characters and world in more depth, while SSB(s) would talk more about game mechanics and reception. At least, that's how it should be. Since none of the Pokémon Trainer's Pokémon nor any of the Mii Fighter classes have their own head icons in Smash Bros. Ultimate, I feel like we should just use their head icons from previous games rather than just leaving them blank.
