I'm with Miles and Dots here. If you were to see a Pikachu in the wild, you wouldn't say, "Oh, its a Mouse Pokémon!" In the games, on Bulbapedia, and on Wikipedia, individual Pokémon species are referred to by their more common names. It's sort of like calling Blinky and Clyde "Shadow" and "Pokey". Shadow and Pokey are their "official" name, according to the 1980's classic. Remember, this is about how things are referred to in Smash.
