| I notice the Brawl manual has different categories than the Melee one does. Which one do we use for all the games in general? I really dislike the Brawl sorting because some items like Combining and Gear only contain one or two items that could easily fit into one of the preestablished categories. Also I wonder if we should change Projectile Items to Throwing Items to more clearly differentiate between them and Shooting Items. - Gargomon251 20:02, 31 March 2008 (UTC) | | I notice the Brawl manual has different categories than the Melee one does. | I noticed a blue spiny shell from Mario flying around the Halberd stage in the Super Smash Bros. Direct at about the 6:03 mark. | == questioning a reversion: properties of link's bombs. ==

|
| |
| someone undid my edit about link's bombs having different properties for each version of link, saying 'Uh...properties? I think you mean "aesthetics"' in the edit description. But don't they actually have different properties (I.E. damage, knockback, blast radius)? 128.210.74.10 13:05, 11 March 2015 (EDT)

| :: I always thought Toon Link's bombs had less knockback but a larger blast radius. Bomb_(Link)#Toon_Link.27s_Bombs also says that the blast radius is larger, and Bomb_(Link)#Young_Link.27s_Bombs also says that young link's bombs hit multiple times. I'm not one hundred percent sure about any of this but there is reference to this elsewhere on the wiki, albeit without citing any hard data. | == SSB4 Item Updates? ==
| |
|
| |
| Are items in for3ds and forwiiu being updated (other than bug fixes and glitches)? Because it seems as if when I attack a Smash Ball in the newer updates, it takes way more to break it than in previous versions of the game. I'm not comparing its durability to that of when it's spawned Training Mode. Could this probably be something else? | ==Battering item special moves==
| |
| A few days ago, I noticed that there appeared to be no generally condensed information about the special forward smashes and dash attacks performed with battering items by certain characters in Melee and Brawl. Although a few of these are noted on some pages (Marth/Roy's dual-wielding slash is mentioned to have been removed in Smash 4 on Beam Sword, Sheik and Captain Falcon's extra-star smashes are noted on Star Rod, and Sheik and Captain Falcon's vertical-knockback bat swings are mentioned on Home-Run Contest), and all such attacks have their damage listed on their respective item pages, the actual attacks and their functions are not described in any detail anywhere on the wiki, as far as I can tell.
| |
|
| |
| In interest of this lack of information, I began testing these attacks myself in Melee today, and accordingly adding information in the characters' moveset sections under the header "Battering item special moves". I was notified by User:Serpent King on my talk page that this information shouldn't be placed in these sections since they should only be used for moves inherent to the charcater. To be clear, I am not meaning to finger-point here, and I totally understand this decision. However, what should be done with this data? It is game-relevant information that does not appear to be currently documented anywhere on the wiki. These are the options that I've considered so far.
| |
| *Keep it in the moveset sections of the character pages: This is still my favorite option, honestly. While characters may not be able to perform these moves without items, I would argue that they are still an element of the character's moveset, as they are unique animations and attacks only performable by specific characters.
| |
| *Make a new section on each character page: This seems like a poor choice, since the character pages are fairly standardized and this section would only apply to certain characters.
| |
| *Add the information to the Trivia section on each character page: Works, but is out of the way and difficult to locate for the uninformed reader.
| |
| *Make a section on the Item article: This is probably my second favorite option, since it retains the information in a concisely-available manner.
| |
| *Move the information to the item pages: This would work pretty well, but would contain a lot of duplicate information across pages since most of these attacks have no special effects past the standard for the character.
| |
| *Get rid of the information: This is my least favorite option, since this is new information that the wiki can document.
| |
| So, what's the general thinking here? Pseudo-dino (talk) 21:38, 12 November 2015 (EST)
| |
| :It's definitely worth keeping somewhere. I'd say that the character pages make the most sense of the available options, given that Falcon swinging a Star Rod differently is an attribute of him, not the item.
