I am not an expert, but I believe hyper armor means that the attack is heavily guarded against offensive attacks. I should know! When I was fighting DK once with Sonic, we both did our round up punches and punched at the same time. DK recieved the full damage but did not get any knockback while I ended up being knocked out!
