What pronouns are used to refer to Dharkon in official text? I know that some characters' official pronouns aren't always the same, such as Birdo, but is Dharkon ever officially referred to with male pronouns like it is on this page? If not, then this page should use inanimate object  pronouns to refer to Dharkon. (Too bad there aren't any gender-universal singular-only animate pronouns.) -ThighFish

:The only mention to Dharkon in game that I know of (other than his spirit) is in the cutscene "From Light to Dark". The text reads, "With Galeem, the lord of light, defeated, darkness takes hold. In the blink of an eye, the land is swallowed by shadow. Galeem's spirits and puppet fighters fall under its control. The embodiment of chaos and darkness... Dharkon." To me the "its" refers to "darkness" or "shadow" and not Dharkon himself. --CanvasK (talk) 22:15, September 13, 2020 (EDT)

::If it's not specifically called a he, though, gender-neutral is still the safer bet. I would go for "they" over "it" if we don't think "it" is ever used, as Dharkon is an animate object -- a lot of even academic writing formats have backtracked on accepting they as singular, so it's not that huge a deal anymore. And it's fully possible that the developers went for a female Dharkon to oppose the male Galeem, so it would be safer to not assume than to assume wrongly.
