==Specifics==
It was my impression that the crowd began cheering for you if you were doing particularly well, in terms of a high attack rate or something, though certainly not due to random circumstances.

As for when the cheering stops, I'm not sure whether being hit makes a difference or not, though I know it will end automatically after a time.
Anyone?

The crowd cheered for me once after my friend killed me(I was fox and he was Falco and he D-air spiked me) and when I came back, he was still recovering, and I pushed him back him with some aerials and then edge-hogged, and he died, the crowd stared cheering for me. -I think the game can't really recognize a good combo. I think that a good smash attack will make the crowd cheer.
