T1 is a professional eSports organization based in South Korea. It was founded in Seoul in 2002 as the StarCraft: Brood War team Orion by legendary player BoxeR, considered to be a forefather of modern E-Sports, and in 2004, it became SK Telecom T1 after its title sponsor, Korean telecommunications giant SK Telecom. The organization also became widely known for its League of Legends success, which includes 3 World Championships (2013, 2015, and 2016). In February 2019, SKT T1 announced a partnership with Comcast Spectacor, under which the organization rebranded to T1 (although their League division is competing as SKT T1 through 2019).[1]
They entered Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on April 17th, 2019 by sponsoring ANTi and Larry Lurr.[2][3] On January 10th, 2020, Larry Lurr announced that he was no longer part of T1.[4] On February 26th, 2020, T1 announced the signing of MkLeo as their new SSBU player[5]. A couple of months later, on July 2nd, 2020, ANTi announced that T1 dropped him pending sexual assault allegations levied against him.[6]
T1 would part ways with Leo as their final player on February 23rd, 2023.[7]
