This move is a chargeable projectile that the trainer summons by performing the yoga pose of the same name. It can be stored and used later, similarly to [[Samus]]'s [[Charge Shot]]. While charging the move generates a weak [[windbox|push]] effect. When fully charged, the move [[healing|heals]] Wii Fit Trainer by 2% when shot, and Wii Fit Trainer will sometimes shout "Sun salutation!" in the PAL version or "Salute the sun!" in the American version of the game. In ''Smash 4'' the move deals 18% when fully charged, and in ''Ultimate'' it deals 21%. Additionally, in ''Ultimate'''s {{SSBU|8.0.0}} update, the move was given a ~1.27x base knockback increase, greatly improving its KO potential. Sun Salutation also uses a unique [[effect]] known as the [[solar]] effect.

In ''{{s|wikipedia|Wii Fit}}'', Sun Salutation is one of the yoga poses the player can choose from and then be guided through by either the male or female Wii Fit Trainer. Designed to tone the arms and thighs, it goes as follows: standing on the Wii Balance Board, the player must keep their center of balance within a yellow oval while reaching up and behind them, bending down to touch their toes, reaching up while bending their knees, returning to the starting position, and then repeating for the chosen amount of repetitions.

In the ''Super Smash Bros.'' series, Wii Fit Trainer reaches up and slightly behind while charging Sun Salutation and touches their toes when shooting it. The knee-bending step is not used.

While the sun energy ball does not appear in ''Wii Fit'', it does resemble the background of the yoga training exercises, meant to regulate breathing.

==Trivia==
*This is the Wii Fit Trainer's only special move to be based on a yoga pose.
*Sun Salutation can be [[absorption|absorbed]] while it is being charged by moves such as [[PSI Magnet]] or [[Oil Panic]]. However, this offers little to no benefit, as absorbing a charging Sun Salutation will not recover any health and yields an extremely weak Oil Panic attack.
*If Sun Salutation is interrupted in its startup, Wii Fit Trainer does not lose the charge, unlike every other chargeable projectile.
