| Similar to his base fighter, {{SSBU|Simon}}, Richter gathered interest from many players for their long reach and versatility in projectiles. Richter's status in the early metagame seemed to match players' expectations with much success and representation, mainly from {{Sm|Riddles}}, {{Sm|Brood}}, and {{Sm|Shuton}}. However, Riddles and Brood would drop him in favor of {{SSBU|Terry}} and {{SSBU|Banjo & Kazooie}} respectively, or regulated them to a rare secondary in the case of Shuton. There are still dedicated Richter players with {{Sm|T3 DOM}}, {{Sm|Frosty}}, and {{Sm|Nitro}} however, but it is generally agreed that the character is not as relevant as he used to be. Because of this, Richter's viability in the current ''Ultimate'' meta is up for debate.

| ===Notable players===
| |
| <!--If you are planning to add a player you consider to be notable, please provide tournament results in some shape or form in the edit summary (be it a link to a results thread or bracket of placing high in a tournament of other notable players or a video of them beating a notable player). Winning tournaments without notable players present is generally not enough to warrant a spot.-->
