| | Snorlax is a massive, extremely heavy, vaguely ursine lifeform. The Pokédex says it is very lazy, and its typical day consists of nothing more than eating and sleeping. It is not satisfied unless it eats over 880 pounds of food every day, and it promptly goes back to sleep once it is done eating. As its rotund bulk builds, it becomes steadily more slothful, and when its belly is full, it becomes too lethargic to even lift a finger. Its stomach's digestive fluids can dissolve any kind of food or poison, and it never gets an upset stomach even if it eats moldy or rotten food off the ground. What sounds like its cry may actually be its snores or the rumblings of its hungry belly. It is such a docile specie that there are children who use its expansive belly as a place to play and bounce on. |
| Snorlax (カビゴン, Kabigon) is a creature in the Pokémon franchise. It appears as a Poké Ball Pokémon in all five Smash Bros. games. It is the evolved form of Munchlax.

|
| ==Origin==
| | Snorlax is one of the original 151 Pokémon that appears in the first generation games Pokémon Red & Blue. The player could capture a Snorlax by playing the Poké Flute to wake it up. The Poké Flute was used to awaken Snorlax in both the Pokémon anime and Pokémon Snap. Ash Ketchum at one time caught a Snorlax on his Orange Island adventures. When the fourth generation came around, Snorlax gained a pre-evolved form Pokémon named Munchlax. A player could obtain a Munchlax by either breeding two Snorlaxes while one holds a Full Incense or using honey on a tree. |

Snorlax evolves from Munchlax when leveled up with high friendship.

| Snorlax's Japanese and English voice clips used in every Smash game each come from the Pokémon anime episode Wake Up, Snorlax!. Its "rising" clip plays when it wakes up while its "falling" clip plays when its still asleep. | | ===As a Poké Ball Pokémon=== |

| | Snorlax uses Body Slam as his attack. Snorlax jumps in the air and disappears off the screen. Snorlax will then inflate himself and descend towards the bottom of the screen. Any character that makes contact with Snorlax will take damage. Snorlax also destroys certain things on a stage. He will destroy items like Bob-ombs and Motion-sensor Bombs. If Snorlax gets hit by an attack that's strong enough before he jumps he will jump diagonally. Snorlax's attack does not harm the summoner. |

Any character that makes contact with Snorlax will take damage and considerable knockback. Snorlax's hitboxes can also affect stage elements and set off explosive items such as the Bob-omb. The attack does not harm the summoner.

| |desc-ntsc=This sleepy, Normal-type Pokémon is huge! It eats more than 900 lb. of food every day. Most of the time not spent eating is spent sleeping. That big, round body comes in handy when it's brought onto a Smash Bros. battlefield—the Body Slam attack will send anyone who gets hit flying into the air!
| |
| |desc-pal=Snorlax is often referred to as the Sleeping Pokémon, and there's a good reason for that! This giant loafer spends almost all its time snoozing, getting up for just long enough each day to scoff up a tidy 400kg of food. In this game, it soars into the air and uses its Body Slam attack, smacking into fighters like a giant wrecking ball.

| ==Trivia==
| | Note that this trophy description is out of date; Following Melee, even heavier Pokemon have been introduced, with the current record-holder for Pokemon weight being Groudon, or technically MissingNo. |
| *In Brawl, if Snorlax hits the side of an opponent's shield as it jumps, it will bounce off and move diagonally.
| |
| *Goldeen, Mew, and Snorlax are the only Pokémon to appear as Poké Ball Pokémon in every game.
| |
| **Snorlax is the only one of these three that actually attacks when summoned.
| |
| *Snorlax's evolutionary line is the only one in the series to have more than one summonable Pokémon in the same game, with Munchlax also being a Poké Ball Pokémon in Brawl.
| |
|
| |
|
| ==Notes== | | ==In Super Smash Bros. Brawl== |

| | ===As a Poké Ball Pokémon=== |
| | Snorlax returns in Brawl with exactly the same functionality, making it the only Poké Ball Pokemon to appear in all 3 installments with an attack not changed or given to another Pokemon. Oddly enough, its baby form (Munchlax) is also in Brawl. |
